Are psychic medium predictions accurate?

by Bob Olson, Best Psychic Directory founder & author of Answers About The Afterlife.

For the purposes of explaining this question, I’m going to concentrate this answer on predictions given by our deceased loved ones during readings with mediums. I’ve discussed predictions by psychics on this website here, so you can find that answer there if that interests you more.

I’m not a big fan of predictions because I’ve seen too many misinterpreted by psychic mediums, thereby causing confusion and chaos in people’s lives. When I get a prediction from a loved one in spirit during a reading with a psychic medium, I don’t give it a lot of weight. Instead, I consider it while matching it with what my own intuition is telling me. And if the prediction is quite serious yet my intuition isn’t telling me anything, I’ll file that prediction in the back of my mind to see if any other signs that have a similar message come into my life.

I’m much more likely to trust my own intuition and the signs I get from the Universe, such as divine messengers or divine coincidences. I use the word ‘divine’ to indicate that my soul and spirit guides have put these messengers and coincidences in front of me for guidance.

For example, I once had a psychic medium reading where a loved one in spirit mentioned something about getting my pickup truck fixed. I hadn’t had any mechanical work done, so I just kept the prediction in mind. The following week, I kept bumping into a guy in town who drove the same pickup truck as me (that’s all we had in common). I rarely saw him, but in that one week, I saw him four times. So the fourth time we crossed paths, I chatted with him and asked him how his truck was running. He told me about a recall on the truck that he recently had fixed, which I didn’t know about. So I made sure to get the recalled part replaced, and I haven’t seen the man since.

I have been told many predictions over the years by psychic mediums that did not come to fruition, which is why I’m not a big fan of predictions. Too many people think future predictions are set in stone when, in reality, they are merely snapshots of what “might” happen, not what “will” happen. Because we have free will, we each have the power to change what psychic mediums (and people in spirit) see in our future. In fact, you could hang up the phone after a psychic or medium reading and instantly alter the prediction that was made in that reading simply by making an alternate choice.

Just think of a prediction as a photograph taken through the windshield of your car. This photo indicates the direction your car is heading, but it doesn’t take into account that you might make a right or left turn along the way. Free will is our ability to make right and left turns before we reach the destination in the photograph. Make one turn, and suddenly, the prediction (the photo) changes.
